![]() Pearl Oak Executive Desk with File Storage and Adjustable Shelves Bring a coastal breeze into your home office Bring a coastal breeze into your home office with this double pedestal desk from the Vista Key collection. In the end, I do like the desk and enjoy its look and feel, but there are somethings that would make it worthy of a five star review. On top of this, you can't easily run a monitor cable or something similar from within the desk to the desk surface which is certainly annoying. Since there are no access holes in the cabinets, you cannot keep a computer inside the desk without leaving a door ajar. If it were a few inches wider, it would be much better for both the storage space and the usability of the desk itself. For a desk that is meant to be double-sided, this desk is very narrow. The depth of the cabinets and drawers are determined by the overall width of the desk. The major complaint I have about this desk, is that the cabinets are 1) very shallow and 2) have no access holes. There are seven other bolts that hold the leg on, which seems like huge overkill for the desk of its size. I found a few build quality issues, such as slight misalignments in two panels, and one of the eight bolt holes that attach the sled legs was so misaligned it was unusable. Screw sizes were all very different, and the packages are all extremely well labeled which I really like. I did not have to double check any pieces to make sure I had something the correct orientation. Aside from some odd sentences in the instruction manual, the pictures were pretty clear. There was no where near enough for all the gluing that was required. The included tube of glue ran dry on me after just five dowels. Having two people would also be beneficial. Thankfully, the location is completely unnoticeable on the underside of the desk. In fact, the included allen wrench actually stratched the laminate in one place on the desk while attempting to screw in the bolts. The included allen wrench is very short and does not perform well on the bolts it is designed to attach. The only tool that is required is a screw driver, but do yourself a favor and bring along a bottle of wood glue and a long handled (or long shafted) allen wrench. I will admit that this length of time was a bit frustrating, but there are a lot of steps, and a lot of hardware to attach. except for two things: soft close hinges on the door, and excellent action on the drawers.Īssembly took me roughly 2 hours. There really isn't anything 'special' about this desk. ![]() Keep in mind that this is just a desk made from particle board with shelves on one side and drawers/doors on the other. However, I'm glad I did, as it seems to me this desk is just as good than other similar desks out there. I was a little hesitant to get this desk at first based on some other reviews. Overall, this is a well-built desk that we hope can last many years. The doors are slow-close, so that makes it feel stylish as well. Once the installation is complete, the desk feels sturdy and looks elegant. If you use a drill or impact driver, it can easily strip the wood and make the hole not usable. The instructions also recommended not to use power tools, but there is an overwhelming amount of screws, so we ended up using a 4V battery-powered screwdriver at its lowest torque setting. Otherwise, the cabinet is 15 inches in height and 15 inches in depth. Since we will not have access to the back (not user side), we opted not to use the divider and gained 8 more inches of storage space in the cupboard. There is a divider that goes in the cabinets to divide it to store from front or back of the desk. We decided to put it against a wall, so we did not need the back end of the desk (not where user sits) to look pretty. ![]() ![]() The desk is meant to be used in the middle of a room where the front or back may both be visible. The bottom of the desk has two drawers and two cabinet storage on the right and left sides. Every premade hole was accurate and they ended up aligning well on the corresponding pieces. Every piece is numbered with a sticker on it and the hardware is packed in individually labeled bags (e.g., 12 silver screws in bag M). It can first look overwhelming with the number of pieces, and steps listed in the instructions, but once you get started and get a hold of it, it speeds up. It took two of us about 2 hours to assemble. It is made of MDF material, including the table top. The 54 inch desk is sturdy and looks stylish.
